Conference Day – October 11 Held at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, the full-day conference featured a rich lineup of panels, workshops, and interactive sessions. Key Highlights: The State of the Fourth Estate A timely conversation about journalism’s resilience in a polarized era, featuring Bina Venkataraman and Sudeep Reddy. Covering Climate Change Journalists from The New York Times, Bloomberg, and The Guardian discussed the complexities of climate reporting across global and local contexts. Reporting in Conflict Zones A sobering session on covering Gaza and other high-risk regions, touching on press freedom, emotional impact, and newsroom dynamics. The Future of Journalism Explorations into the rise of independent platforms like Substack, the power of documentary storytelling, and evolving formats in audio/video journalism. Wellbeing in Journalism Addressing burnout, mental health, and career transitions in a high-pressure industry.
